Dem Turnout UP? / Rep Turnout Down?

I know it is still very early, and many results will come in over night. I was looking at some early returns in NJ, MS, AL, CA. I have also seen several posts about "low" turnout among voters in the primaries.
MSM is sure to latch onto the "low" turnout and that is likely to be the spin for the results, no matter what they might be, but I was wondering if the turnout was only low among REP, but was up from prior years for DEMs.
More below the flip:
Example:
New Mexico: US Senator Jeff Bingaham, unopposed has 26,942
The TOTAL of his three challengers; McCulloch,Pffefer, Carraro : 13,550.
as of 12:05 AM

Okay, perhaps this is not the best example. Bingaham is popular, and Reps might decide to NOT vote against him.
Look at NJ: Republicans Keane and Ginty get a combined vote total of 164,523. The REPS really want this seat, right?
Democrats Menendez and Kelly get a total of 171,544 votes.
Primaries are all about turning out the "base".
Looking at ALABAMA, a very red state were Judge "10 Commandments" Moore was running against Riley. Moore brought out the right wing, ultra consevative base I am sure. The numbers are down, but are they up for DEMS overall.
I will update as the situation warrants. Anyone know how to find old primary numbers?
